Gordon Bullous Memorial Trophy
Mr Gordon Bullous
Founding Captain of 1st Ponteland Boys’ Brigade
It all started when…
Gordon Bullous Memorial Award
Gordon started his journey in the Boys’ Brigade in the 5th Sheffield Company as a young boy. He became the bugle player and eventually an officer in the Company.
He moved from Nottingham to Ponteland with his family in 1965 to take up a position with Winthops in Gosforth.
After worshipping at Ponteland Methodist Church for a few months, Gordon felt there was a real need for a Boys’ Brigade Company.
He was passionate about sharing his faith with young people and introducing them to Jesus, hence 1st Ponteland BB came into being.
The first meeting night was held on November 1st, 1966, when 12 boys attended.
Unfortunately, due to pressure of work, Gordon had eventually to relinquish the Captaincy. But always retained his love and support of the Boys’ Brigade.
Each year we present the Gordon Bullous Memorial Award to the young person who has gained the most out of their year in Boys’ Brigade.
The criteria for the award is based on personal development and achievement.
